Terry Crews is an American actor, author, and former NFL player. He starred in films like White Chicks (2004) and the Expendables series. His television credits include Everybody Hates Chris, Are We There Yet?, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013-). Terry Alan Crews was born on July 30, 1968, in Flint, Michigan. He was raised primarily by his mother, Patricia. Crews is a graduate of Flint Southwestern Academy. He studied art at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. He attended Western Michigan University on an athletic scholarship.
CAREER
Crews played college football at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He played as a defensive end and linebacker. His college achievements include All-Conference honors as a defensive end, and the 1988 Mid-American Conference championship. Crews was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams with the 281st overall pick in the 1991 NFL Draft. He played briefly for the San Diego Chargers, the Washington Redskins, and the Philadelphia Eagles. He also played one season for the Rhein Fire in the World League of American Football. Crews’ NFL stats stand at 32 games played, 57 tackles, and 38 assists. He officially retired in 1997.
Crews moved to Los Angeles in the late 1990s to pursue acting. He was cast as “T-Money” in the television competition series Battle Dome (1999-2001). His feature film debut was The 6th Day (2000) starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Crews followed up with supporting roles in Friday After Next (2002) with Ice Cube, and White Chicks (2004) with Shawn Wayans and Marlon Wayans. Crews starred as “Hale Caesar” in the ensemble action film, The Expendables (2010). The film was directed by Sylvester Stallone. The main cast includes Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, and Dolph Lundgren. The role of Hale Caesar was reprised in The Expendables 2 (2012) & 3 (2014). Crews’ film credits include Norbit (2007) with Eddie Murphy, Get Smart (2008) with Steve Carell, and The Ridiculous 6 (2015) with Adam Sandler.
